Clark’s gilt monogram to front board; top edge gilt. Copyright page states “Published, November, 1902” with no other printing indications present. Good+. Ownership inscription on blank prelim. Complete with map plate. Pronounced wear to spine ends, with observable fraying and loss. Spine cloth starting to lift from text block. Moderate wear to board corners, with observable board exposure. Front and rear hinges starting to crack, with moderate splitting to the endpapers along the hinges; binding remains sound. Slight foxing.

  • This title from J. M. Barrie is the true starting point for Peter Pan collectors, with Peter’s first appearance in print on page 154 for this American edition (“If so, Peter Pan sees them…”).
  • Issued in 1902, two years before the 1904 stage play, it is the foundational volume that the later Peter Pan canon builds from.
  • The Kensington Gardens sequence (Chapters XIII–XVIII) was later reissued as Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens in near-identical text in 1906.
